Position Overview:
One of our clients from the Freight Forwarding industry is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented FTA Excise Specialist to join our team in a freight forwarding company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with excise tax regulations and reporting requirements related to freight forwarding activities. This role involves working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to manage the excise process effectively and efficiently.
- Key Responsibilities:
• Compliance Management:
Ensure compliance with Federal Tax Authority (FTA) regulations regarding excise duties.
Prepare and submit timely excise tax returns and related documentation to the relevant authorities.
Monitor changes in excise tax laws and regulations and update internal policies accordingly.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of all excise-related transactions, including imports, exports, and local sales.
Prepare and execute necessary documentation to facilitate the movement of excise goods.
Ensure that all documentation meets FTA requirements and is readily available for audits.
• Collaboration:
Liaise with customs authorities, tax advisors, and other stakeholders to resolve excise-related queries and issues.
Collaborate with the operations team to understand the flow of goods and ensure compliance in logistics processes.
. Audit and Reporting:
Assist in internal and external audits concerning excise duties and respond to inquiries from regulatory bodies.
Prepare regular reports on excise duty liabilities and compliance status for management review.
• Training and Support:
Provide training and support to internal teams on excise compliance and best practices.
Assist in the development of policies and procedures to enhance excise compliance within the organization.
• Risk Management:
Identify and assess risks related to excise compliance and recommend mitigation strategies.
Implement controls to minimize risks associated with excise duties in freight forwarding operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in excise compliance, tax regulations, or freight forwarding.
- Strong knowledge of FTA regulations and excise duty processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with relevant software applications.
- Previous experience in a freight forwarding or logistics environment.
Professional Skills:
- Experience and knowledge of initiating the Import and Re-Export and Liability effect.
- Initiate designated Zone Transfers.
- Transfer, Export as per EX202A, and Ownership Transfer as per EX203C.
- Calculate deductible as per EX203.
- Experience in dealing with EXPORT Exit Stamping records.
- Handle and set up required Documents.
- Update transactions based on each job.
- Track Stock Movement with FTA transactions.
- Generate and analyze monthly reports.
Personal Skills:
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Certification in tax or customs compliance is a plus.
