1. Definition

Aircraft Handlers report to their Supervisor for administrative matters and, when assigned to specific tasks, will report to and work under the guidance of an Authorised Engineer or Technician.

They are required to work on company aircraft and any other aircraft as assigned, acting as non-skilled trade assistants. They are expected to follow all safety procedures and actively promote safe work practices at all times.

2. Duties and Responsibilities

The primary duty of Aircraft Handlers is to maintain the exterior surface of aircraft in a condition suitable for VVIP operations.

2.1 Departure of Aircraft
  • Take aircraft fuel samples
  • Check aircraft tire pressure
  • Open hangar doors and remove chocks
  • Provide marshalling signals during aircraft pushback
2.2 Arrival of Aircraft
  • Arrange all requirements for aircraft arrival including marshalling bats, nose chocks, landing gear pins, and steering pins
  • Marshal aircraft for parking in the absence of a Technician
  • Top up engine oil when required
  • Top up hydraulic systems when required
  • Top up APU oil under the supervision of a Technician
2.3 Hangar Operations
  • Assist Technician during wheel changes
  • Arrange all equipment required for wheel change
  • Support aircraft jacking operations
  • Assist Technician in brake maintenance
2.4 Lubrication
  • Lubricate all landing gears
  • Lubricate left and right trailing edge flap transmission systems
  • Lubricate landing gear pivot components
2.5 Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist in aircraft water sterilization
  • Perform vacuum waste toilet servicing as per procedure
  • Support Biobar testing under supervision of a Licensed Engineer
  • Assist in engine-related tasks including opening engine cowling and lubrication
3. Training Requirements
  • Aircraft General Familiarisation
  • FOD (Foreign Object Damage) Awareness
  • Human Factors Training
4. General

Aircraft Handlers assist Engineers and Technicians with all types of technical work on aircraft and are expected to comply with all safety and operational procedures.
